Every year city departments are required to present a performance report to the Mayor, City Council and citizen stakeholders (Service Level Report). Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the departments discuss their mission, financial inputs, workload outputs, measures of efficiency & effectiveness (including comparisons to other cities & industry norms), results and their issues and concerns for the future.

SANITATION DEPARTMENT MISSION

The Pocatello Sanitation department is responsible for solid waste collection and disposal, as well as issuing regulations for services provided. The daily collection for residential and commercial customers in Pocatello is approximately 143 tons which is disposed of at the Bannock County Landfill located south of Pocatello. The Sanitation department provides each home with a 96-gallon refuse cart for weekly pickup service, and provides other recycling and roll off services for residential and commercial customers.

The Sanitation department and maintenance facility is located at 1121 South Second Avenue. To contact the department by telephone call (208) 234-6192. Office hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
