MAYOR TO ISSUE THREE PROCLAMATIONS AT COUNCIL MEETING
Proclamations to be Accepted at Tonight’s Meeting
Pocatello Mayor Roger Chase is issuing three proclamations at tonight’s City Council Meeting. The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.
The first proclamation is in honor of POW*MIA Recognition Day being held September 19, 2008. The proclamation is part of the National POW*MIA Recognition Day where extraordinary patriots who have been prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action are recognized. The proclamation encourages citizens to take a moment to remember the soldiers who are prisoners, missing or currently serving overseas.
The second proclaims September 27, 2008 as AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day. The American Kennel Club recognizes this date every year as a way to promote all aspects of responsible dog ownership, including proper veterinary care, safety around children, obedience training and licensing. The proclamation asks citizens to be responsible pet owners and encourage others to do the same.
Finally, the week of September 17 through 23, 2008 will be recognized as Constitution Week. September 17, 2008 marks the 221 anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention. Citizens are asked to reaffirm the ideals of the Framers of the Constitution by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this important document.
