US CONFERENCE OF MAYORS

Mayor Chase to Give Presentation at the Conference

Mayor Roger Chase is attending the US Conference of Mayors 76th Annual Meeting in Miami, Florida June 20 through June 23. Mayor Chase is one of 26 mayors that have been asked to give a presentation at the conference. He is joined by other mayors from the northwest including Mayor Mark Begrich of Anchorage, Alaska and Mayor Greg Nickels of Seattle, Washington as special speakers. In addition, four Congressman and two US Senators including Senator Bill Nelson of Florida will also present at the conference.

Other speakers include Florida Governor Charles Chris, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, former President Bill Clinton, and Presidential Candidate Barak Obama. Issues being discussed at the conference range from topics such as hunger and homelessness, climate protection, and energy issues which include rising gas prices.

The US Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Mayor Chase currently serves on committees for the US Conference of Mayors dealing with membership, energy, tourism, and the arts which include parks, entertainment, and sports.
