This department is part of the administrative services for the City and functions as a service provider for all departments by planning, administering, and managing the human resource functions.
With a professional staff of three, this department administers citywide payroll, compensation policy, job descriptions and job evaluations, and benefit programs for approximately 500 full-time and 250 seasonal employees. It also provides information to the public about job opportunities, coordinates the activities of the Civil Service Commission, assists in the negotiation and the administration of union contracts, provides training programs for all employees, administers human resource policies, selection procedures, equal employment opportunity, and is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and evaluation of programs for the effective utilization of the City’s human resources.
