Every year city departments are required to present a performance report to the Mayor, City Council and citizen stakeholders (Service Level Report). Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the departments discuss their mission, financial inputs, workload outputs, measures of efficiency & effectiveness (including comparisons to other cities & industry norms), results and their issues and concerns for the future. |

BANNOCK COUNTY AMBULANCE DISTRICT FACTS
Since 1978, the Pocatello Fire Department has contracted with Bannock County to provide ambulance services. The Pocatello Fire Department provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) Services throughout Bannock County. ALS ambulances are staffed by full-time paramedics who respond from two Pocatello fire stations. Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances are staffed by dedicated on-call volunteers who respond from the cities of Downey and Lava Hot Springs, providing service to emergencies in southern Bannock County.
| Why Does a Fire Truck Respond on an EMS call? |
| |
Within the city limits of Pocatello a fire truck will respond on an EMS call, in addition to the ambulance. There are several reasons why this is done:
1. Firefighters are trained EMT's that can provide emergency service if first on scene.
2. There are 4 fire stations in Pocatello, front line ambulances are only in 2. By sending a fire truck it allows for a quicker response time. Surrounding communities provide first responders that arrive to provide EMS until an advanced life support ambulance arrives.
3. Additional personnel may be needed if patient is in cardiac arrest, or to assist in movement of a patient to the ambulance.
