Fire
Prevention Activities
The Pocatello Fire Department has
an Open House in May of each year. This year’s
Open House will include a 3rd Grade Junior
Fire Academy to let the youngsters know what it’s
like to be a firefighter. Other activities include station
tours for grade schoolers, and visits by Sparky the Fire
Dog upon request. We also have an Educational Smoke Trailer,
complete with kitchen and bedroom, where students can
learn about kitchen safety and how to escape from their
bedroom during a fire.

What
is the ISO Public Protection Class rating for Pocatello?
Pocatello’s ISO PPC Rating
is 3. How
is that rating figured? ISO collects information on municipal
fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the
United States. In each of those communities, ISO analyzes
the relevant data and assigns a Public Protection Classification
from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents exemplary public protection,
and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire-suppression
program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria. For more information on ISO PPC Rating
refer to ISO's
PPC Program Helping to Build Effective Fire-Protection
Services.
