Alameda Bike Lanes Project

Alameda Bike Lanes is a federal aid project. The purpose of this project is to widen the street section on Alameda Road between Pole Line Road and McKinley Avenue to improve bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The existing street section consists of four travel lanes with left turn pockets at Pole Line and McKinley. The new street section will include four travel lanes; one center-left turn lane; left turn pockets at Pole Line and McKinley; a bicycle lane, sidewalk, curb, and gutter on both sides of Alameda; and parking/loading/unloading areas adjacent to Lewis and Clark Elementary School and Alameda Middle School.

Two contractors submitted bids for this project. The State of Idaho awarded the project to the lowest responsive bidder, Mickelson Construction of Blackfoot, for approximately 2.3 million dollars.

Construction began in June of 2008 and should be completed in the fall of 2008. At this point, the project is on time and on budget.
