The Building Department consists of 4 full time inspectors (one building official, building inspector, plumbing/mechanical, and electrical), 1 full time support staff, and one half time licensing enforcement officer. The purpose of this department is to ensure the safety of all buildings and structures in the City of Pocatello through administration and enforcement of codes and ordinances regarding new construction, remodeling, and abatement of dangerous buildings. The department is also responsible for coordinating plan checks and issuance of permits for all construction electrical, plumbing, mechanical and gas installation, building demolitions, excavations, signs, and sidewalks.

Once you have your permit and need an inspection call the inspection line answering machine at 208.234.6275. If a morning inspection is desired call the inspection line before 8:00 a.m. If an afternoon inspection is desired call before 1:00 p.m. When calling give the type of inspection is needed, permit number, property address, and time of inspection.
